INTERNATIONAL STOCK PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
Background
Jamison, Eaton & Wood’s background in international investing dates
from 1979, when it co-founded with Ivory & Sime plc of Edinburgh,
Scotland, an investment management firm in the United States that
provided international equity investment services to U.S. clients. The
firm’s ownership in that joint venture company was sold to Ivory & Sime
plc in December 1997 in order that Jamison might develop its own
international investment services for its clients.
Objective
To diversify equity exposure, thereby broadening the bases of opportunity,
in order to achieve returns over a full market cycle that are
competitive with domestic equity returns.
Style
An essentially “Top-Down” approach is utilized to invest in markets
which, in U.S. dollar terms, represent sustainable above-average growth
at a reasonable price. Accordingly, this is an extension of our
domestic U.S. equity style (GARP) where markets replace individual
stocks in that selection process. Growth and valuation criteria are
similar to those utilized in our domestic equity program.
Method
Strategic commitments to international investments typically
range from 10% to 20% of the client’s allocation to equities. The degree of
commitment is tailored to each client’s circumstances.
